Cartersville, GA - Chris Jones' (above) freethrow with 3.1 seconds left, forced OT, where the Blue Devils pulled away from from Gordon College for an 88-79 win. The Blue Devils got off to a very stale start, as the Highlanders' persistent full-court press forced miss after miss. Gordon jumped out to a 6-0 lead and built a 14-4 lead in the early minutes of the game. However, the Devils began getting the ball to the middle, where Scott Windom nailed several mid-range jumpers. Kevin Green (pictured to right) also came off the bench to provide several nifty jumpers, including a three pointer to help the Devils get to within one by the half. In the Summer Hill B-Team game, the young Devils broke open a close game mid-way through the first half then blew away the Smyrna Knicks, 119-79. Dee Henderson drove his way to 33 points and Chris Brown had 22 to lead the 7-1 Devils B-squad. Kevin Green also had 19, while Scott Windom had 17, Brandon Davis 15, Jeff Dawson eight and Dustin Glenn seven. For Smyrna, who fell to 0-8, Terry Albert dropped 18, Byron Hall had 12 and Byron Henderson hit 10.
Baseline Warriors 105 Macon Raiders 87
The Warriors got back on the winning track with a solid 105-87 win over the Raiders on Sunday evening. The two squad played evenly for much of the first half. Baseline was able to inch out to a 53-44 lead by half-time. Casey Moore and Joe Hamilton led the way for Baseline in the first half with 20 and 12 points, respectively, while Arthur Pie and Antwan Brathy each had 11 for the Raiders. In the second half, the Warriors extended their lead behind Golden Ingle and Rod Ashmore, as the duo combined for 26 point, including four treys. Macon made several mini-runs, as Davion Zellner got in the offensive act, but the Warriors were able to maintain with the sound ball handling of Anthony Slater and Ingle.
Brathy finished with 19 for Macon, while Zellner had 17, Pie 15, and Lorin Lewis and Marquis Fleming 11 each. For Baseline, who moved to 20-4 on the season, Moore finished with 24 pts and nine boards, Ingle 23 pts and 6 assists, Hamilton 21 pts and 12 rebounds. Ashmore scored 13 points, while Slater handed out nine assists, tallied six points and got five steals.

Cartersville, Ga -- The Summer Hill Blue Devils escaped with an 85-84 win, after staving off a wild rally by the Panthers of Atlanta Metrotropolitan College Friday evening at JH Morgan Gym. After trading buckets early in the contest, Summer Hill worked out to as much as a nine-point lead at 35-26, before taking a satisfying 49-43 lead into the half-time. Mike Reynolds and Scott Windom led a balanced attack with 10 each, while Chris Brown and DeMarlow Simmons combined for a dozen in the first half

Also on Friday evening in SEBL Pro Independent action, the revamped and hot Atlanta Speedboys got revenge on several early season losses to the Baseline Warriors when they took control from the opening tip and basically cruised to a relatively easy 114-101 win.
