February 10, 2008 -  --  Summer Hill out-races Ware for 123-100 win...
(Cartersville, GA ) - The Blue Devils could never fully get rid of Ware Prep until the final three minutes, when they finally pulled away for good to win 123-100 Sunday afternoon at JH Morgan Gym.

Summer Hill lead 39-20 in the first half, but Ware fought back to cut it to nine by the break. In the second half, the Blue Devils re-built a huge 80-51 lead at the 11-minute mark.

But, Ware Prep took advantage of Summer Hill's second unit and raced back to cut the lead to as little as eight with 5:10 remaining. But, the Devils slowed the Raiders down and pulled away in the final minutes. Summer Hill moved to 16-4 with the victory.
J. Logan downed 28 for Ware, while VJ Shedrick hit 19, D. Harris had 18 and J. Jackson 16.

For the Blue Devils, Chris Jones led the way with 28 points, while shooting 13-18 from the field. Reynolds logged 40 minutes in the game and downed 26 points. Chris Brown came off the bench to provide 23 points in 21 minutes of playing time. Scott Windom chalked up a double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds. DeMarlow Simmons hit 11, Brandon Harris nine and Dee Henderson two. The injured Marcus Henderson got back on the floor for the first time in over a week, and though only playing 10 minutes, showed dedication and leadership, going 3 of 3 from the field for seven points.

In other action Sunday, Baseline got by a tough Macon Raiders squad 103-98. Casey Moore poured in 42 points, while Joe Hamilton had 18, Golden Ingle 13 pts and 7 assists. Anthony Slater collected three points and dished out 12 assists in the win for Baseline, who moved to 15-1 on the season.
 
FORT MCPHERSON 75 SUMMER HILL LADY DEVILS 74...
 
The Lady Devils let Fort Mac climb back in the game after leading by as many as 18 in the game. The Lady Devils have never defeated Fort Mac and after leading 42-28 at the half, missed a prime opportunity on Sunday when the Lady Knights found a groove mid-way through the second about the same time Summer Hill began to break down. Leah Kessenich's shot at the buzzer could've sent the game to OT, but her foot was on the line, leaving the score one-point short. Melissa Bunce-Winter downed 27 points, while Kessenich had 22 and Shagera Irwin 15, as the Lady Devils fell to 4-10 on the season. F. McGee had 23 for the Lady Knights. The Lady Devils will be on the road this Saturday when the participate in the Lady Jaguars' Invitational. They will tip-off at 1pm in College Park (GA).
 
SUMMER HILL B-TEAM 87 SMYRNA KNICKS 56...
 
On Friday evening, the B-Team Devils moved to 6-1 with a relatively easy 87-56 win over the Smyrna Knicks. The Devils led 48-25 at the break, then cruised the remainder of the game. Scott Windom led the way  with 23 points, 15 rebounds and six blocks, while Chris Brown had 22. Kyle Ready had a season-high 15 points, while Dee Henderson had 14 points, 10 boards and eight assists. Kevin Green and Brandon Davis rounded out the scoring with six each. The Devils B-team will take the floor again this Sunday at 5:30pm when the face the Knicks again.

Summer Hill now prepares for a formidable opponent in Atlanta Metro, when the Panthers come to town Friday for a 7:00pm tipoff. The Baseline Warriors will also take on the Atlanta Speedboys at 8:30pm Friday night. On Sunday, Gordon College will return to JH Morgan to battle Summer Hill at 2:30pm, while Baseline will have a re-match of last week's barn-burner with the Team Macon Raiders at 4:00pm.
 
The Summer Hill Post Grad Program and David Archer, Jr. have entered discussions with North Metro Technical College regarding the possible collaberation on establishing an athletic program at the school. Archer will be meeting with NMTC President Steve Dougherty next week to embark on the possibilities of bring college sports to Cartersville and Bartow County.

Chris Brown sets up offense for Blue Devils in win at Cedartown...
 
Chris Brown has been selected as the Summer Hill Player of the Week, as he posted a super week by averaging 31.5 ppg in the two Devils B-team games last week, including a 43 point outburst at Cedartown. He also contributed 23 pts. off the bench in the Summer Hill Post Grad team's big win over Ware Prep Academy last Sunday. The 19-year old Brown is enrolled in the North Metro Technical College Adult Education/GED program.
