Blue Devils break away after intermission for 90-54 win... Waleska, GA - Summer Hill moved to 2-0 on the young season after breaking away in the second half against the Reinhardt College JV Eagles for a 90-54 road win. The Devils struggled early to get things going, while Reinhardt played up to their potential, keeping the score close. Summer Hill's second unit came in to get thing cranked up, as Kevin Green promptly nailed a trey, followed by several offensive rebounds and put backs by Richard Davis. After a steal, Tim Fortenberry also got a break away layin. Up 45-29 at the half, the Devils pushed their spread out to 21 quickly into the second half on a bucket in the lane and a three pointer in the deep corner by Josh White. Later Nagee Smith drained two mammoth dunks to break it open. Summer Hill never looked back from there and cruised to victory. Smith, White and Courtney George each got 14 points to lead a balanced SH attack, which also got 12 and 10, respectively from Richard Davis and Tim Fortenberry. Also for Summer Hill, Jeff Hawkins got nine and Brandon Harris seven. The Devils will now host the Martinique National Team Wednesday night at 7:30pm at JH Morgan Gym at 129 Aubrey Street in Cartersville.

Up 39-33 at the half, Summer Hill used another spurt to start the second stanza to build a 22 point cushion at one point. Ware made several runs and managed to trim their deficit to a dozen by the end of the contest. But, Summer Hill despite looking a bit sloppy, was able to close the game and earn an opening night win. Darrell Waters led the way with 24 points, while Josh White had 16 for the the Blue Devils.

Cartersville, GA - Summer Hill Blue squad fought back to get in the game, after falling down by as many as 17 in the second half, only to come up short in the waning seconds 80-78 against Ware Prep on Sunday afternoon. The two teams fought to a 33-33 tie at the half, but Ware went on a huge run that saw them run up to a 60-43 lead. The Blue Devils applied a half-court press that created some quick buckets, racing back to get back in the game. However, some late miscues inhibited the Devils from completing the comeback and Ware held on for the win. Demetrius Metcalf debuted with 20 points and seven rebounds for the Blue Devils, while Nagee Smith accounted for 17. The Summer Hill blue squad starts the season out with a loss, but will look to rebound in their next game.
