Summer Hill Blue Devils are ready to begin its 2008-09 Campaign! Cartersville, Ga. - The Summer Hill Blue Devils enter their fourth season of play with high hopes and many new recruits. The Devils will open up with Ware Prep Academy this Sunday with the blue and gold squads hosting a double-header at 4:00pm and 5:30pm at JH Morgan Gym on Aubrey Street. Summer Hill will then go on the road Monday night, as the Gold squad will take on Reinhardt College's JV team. On Wednesday evening, the men's National Team from the Island of Martinique in the French Antilles will return to Cartersville to take on the Blue Devil's Gold team at 7:30pm. With increased interest and participation, the Blue Devils have been able to put together two full squads this season. This year's schedule will include five Top 40 JUCO College teams, including South Georgia Tech, Georgia Perimeter, Truett-McConnell and Wallace State-Hanceville (AL), who were ranked #1 in the JUCO Division 1 polls for a time last year. The Summer Hill Blue Devils competed in the Truett-McConnell Pre-season Jamboree last weekend and played very well, taking top billing, in round-robin action against Truett-McConnell and Spartanburg Methodist. Among the three teams participating, the Devils won three of the four halves played, while the others won only two and one, respectively. The program bosts former high school stars from Cartersville/Bartow County, as well as, Polk, Gordon, Gwinnett, Fulton, Dekalb Counties, among others. The Lady Devils will also open their season on November 15th at 5:00pm, in the first game of a double-header at home against Truett-McConnell College. Newly named Head Coach Valerie Linley will be holding tryouts this Saturday from 1pm-3pm at JH Morgan Gym. General Admission to the Blue Devils games is $4.00, and many home dates will include double and triple-headers! |
